Crack a cold one and hop online to start voting! St. Louis currently hovers near the top of the USA Today 10 Best Beer Scene awards, ranked second behind Grand Rapids, Michigan. Noted in the award write-up is Anheuser-Busch, of course, as well as local breweries Schlafly, 4 Hands and Urban Chestnut and bars 21st Street Brewer’s Bar and Downtown’s Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar. The competition is tight, as Grand Rapids has taken home first place for the last several years, while St. Louis hasn’t ranked in the top 10. Beer lovers may vote online once per day at 10best.com. Voting ends on March 19 at noon ET.
Toast to St. Louis’ beer scene at one of these upcoming drink-themed events Downtown.
- While March 14 may be known as Pi Day to the larger public, here in the Gateway City it’s also 314 Day. Celebrate St. Louis at the 314 Day: Our Day, Your Celebration event at 314 The City Bar on Washington Avenue. Each hour will ring in a new special, with those drinks costing (you guessed it) $3.14.
- Near the end of the month, head to Schlafly’s 19th annual Stout and Oyster festival at the Downtown brewery. Schlafly’s signature event has been highlighted nationally by Craft Beer and Brewing magazine and DRAFT Magazine, and is known as one of the top food and beer festivals in the U.S. With 20 of the top oyster shuckers, more than 15 stouts and nearly 80,000 overnighted oysters, the Schlafly team is anticipating this to be the largest Stout and Oyster festival yet.
